As sows become more productive, Danish pig farming equipment company Aco Funki has introduced an automatic milk feeding system to distribute fresh milk to piglets. The idea behind it is simple: when piglets continue to receive milk, they will have a higher body weight at weaning and grow faster after weaning, thereby providing a higher survival rate. The system mixes milk powder with hot water, and then adds cold water to get the right temperature. The company also displayed a rubber heating pad for piglets and a straw rack.

Big Dutchman: Pure Line "Specht System"

Big Dutchman has developed a concept with the customer Renke Specht to group sows and piglets from the 3rd day after birth. Each pen is designed for three sows and their piglets, of which the area of ​​sows is 16.5 square meters and the area of ​​piglets is 4.5 square meters. This concept provides a lot of space for animals, and is in line with the natural behavior of sows in groups. Suddenly lower the protective device to avoid squeezing. German specialty feed manufacturer Bewital Agri launched an encapsulated combination product based on lauric acid, short-chain fatty acid monoglycerides and flavoring agents (plant extracts and essential oils). By combining active substances, it can harm Gram-positive bacteria, such as Streptococcus and Clostridium, thus reducing antibiotic treatment and improving animal health, especially in piglet feeding. An in vitro study showed that 0.1% of the product was sufficient to reduce the bacterial growth of Streptococcus suis and Clostridium perfringens by 50%.

German livestock equipment manufacturer Hölscher Leuschner will present a compact solution for manure acidification. The process of acidifying manure has been known since the 1990s; the idea is to keep the mud in the pit acidified at a pH level of 5.5. In this way, the new manure will be immediately surrounded by acidified manure, thereby preventing microbial degradation of the solid part (reducing methane) and preventing the formation of ammonia. The new farm must install the old type of acidification equipment. The Catch-N system can be retrofitted.

Meier-Brakenberg: Porky's Rack Flexi

In the modern pig industry, the supply of roughage is becoming more and more common. The rack is a simple and powerful system for performing this operation. German equipment manufacturer Meier-Brakenberg introduced Porky's Rack Flexi, a hay and straw rack with adjustable dose sliders. The slider allows the rack to adapt to different material characteristics and set the required quantity output. The rack can also be used to provide alfalfa hay or long wheat straw. The company also introduced two other types of coarse grain dispensers and a weighing machine.

At EuroTier 2021, Austrian equipment manufacturer Schauer Agrotronic added WingFree free delivery pen to its product portfolio. For piglets, Novelty provides the best protection during the farrowing stage, especially during the first few days of life. The free range area for sows can be easily adjusted by opening the wings on both sides of the crate. The advantage is that the fence is low, easy to observe, and has high flexibility when installing the free delivery system to the short or long side of the fence.

Especially in an era when diseases such as African swine fever are spreading rapidly, hygiene is more important than ever. Therefore, the German pig farming equipment company Weda introduced a new closed pig pen module made of plastic. Compared with traditional plates, a single element is sealed and cannot seal off any bacteria or other sources of infection. Hy.Boards are made of PVC; there are different, individually adjustable sizes; easy to assemble; and can be cleaned quickly.
