2021-11-24 04:14:06 By : Ms. Natalia Fu

Almost the entire world has gone through the lockdown for about 18 months. Covid-19 makes it impossible for many people to travel. With the improvement of vaccination level, travel has become easier again. The SPACE held in Rennes, France in 2021 will be one of the first international events where the pig industry can gather in Europe.

As always, a series of innovations have won awards. A total of 35 innovations received Innov'SPACE awards, of which 7 received 2 stars and 28 received 1 star. Among these 35 innovations, 14 innovations are very attractive to the pig industry. Browse them at your leisure.

Vereijken France: Nanny Nest 145x85

This free-range farrowing pen surface is responsible for the management of two temperature environments: it is conducive to the comfort and food consumption of the sow, and it respects the needs of newborn piglets. Vereijken has focused on free-range maternity solutions for more than 10 years and launched an integrated piglet nest. Nanny 145X85 is an all-in-one device integrated in the enclosure, with heated water bath floor and 4 technical hatches (sow visibility, lactation, weaning). The floor is designed to clean perfectly and easily. The unbreakable transparent double cover provides clarity to the piglets for easy monitoring and handling. (Booth A11 in Hall 8)

Calipro's AgiliTrac is a flexible modular farm building that can be quickly integrated into all production systems in the pig industry. The building is composed of precast concrete components, which are combined to form a module that forms the foundation of the building. This module can be repeated as often as needed to create the required size. In order to comply with environmental and animal welfare standards, the building is designed to accommodate the Trac'r phase separation solution. This solution allows for growth without the need to reorganize the entire farm. Each room can be expanded with one or more modules without affecting farm operations or biosafety regulations. (Hall 7, Booth D16)

It is difficult for today's farmers to find qualified farm workers to ensure that no matter who is present, they can continue their daily operations. This matter involves the follow-up of training and guidance. The Replace.Me solution is designed to help farmers manage and monitor employee replacements through apps available on laptops or mobile devices. It provides farmers with features that allow them to set up and monitor interventions, as well as farm workers that allow them to enter intervention forms and interact with farmers via chat or video. (Booth B41 in Hall 4)

Fumzyme Silage is a fumonisin deactivator, suitable for silage. This product is an additive sprayed on corn (whole-plant corn silage, high-moisture corn kernels, etc.) during harvest or during pit filling. It can target and detoxify harmful fumonisins within a few minutes. Therefore, the obtained silage material can be safely used in pig and ruminant feed. This additive was developed by Biomin, an animal nutrition company based in Austria. It is the only product approved by the European Union and has been proven to remove all species of fumonisins from silage. (Booth B37 in Hall 9)

IFIP (Institut du Porc) and Wel2Be: Pic'Let

Pic'Let by IFIP and Wel2Be is an image capture tool that can identify immature piglets at birth. The tool provides automatic phenotypes through image analysis, and accurate records instead of subjective judgments for selection. It also allows the producer to accurately understand the maturity of the piglet to improve the fertility rate of the piglet. The tool consists of a system with 2 cameras. The piglets are placed on a separate weight scale. Once the weight has stabilized, a photo will be taken, and the algorithm will assign a mature phenotype to the animal based on head morphological characteristics. The system adopts stainless steel design and is easy to clean. (Booth B41 in Hall 4)

The Distripaille innovation is part of a series of pig welfare items that respect the natural behavior of pigs, especially since they need to be rooted in the soil with their nose according to the bone shape. This new product is a stainless steel feeder that can store large amounts of straw. These animals use their noses to interact with institutions located at the bottom of them and receive straws as rewards. In this way, the tool allows pigs to live in a stress-free environment. The product is manufactured by Meier-Brakenberg, Germany, and distributed in France by RV Biotech. (Booth A06 in Hall 8)

PIC's Fertiboar technology allows to predict boar semen quality based on testicular ultrasound measurements before the first semen collection. In this way, producers can identify boars with the best semen quality and select these boars for artificial insemination. Machine learning methods are used to identify areas of the testicles that are critical for semen production. These are analyzed to calculate parameters describing new properties, such as tissue uniformity and echogenicity. The second step is to apply a supervised learning algorithm to predict the probability of the boar producing semen of the required quality. (Booth C40 in Hall 8)

Cargill’s Neopigg Shield is a feed program for piglets from 4 to 42 days old. It aims to reduce the negative effects of piglet weaning while restricting the use of pharmaceutical solutions. Its original formula was based on the use of fiber-rich raw materials and was selected for its highly digestible properties. In addition, it is based on highly digestible protein to limit intestinal inflammation aggravated by weaning stress. Tested on more than 50 farms in Europe, the feed series was distributed during the weaning stage for 3 weeks, reducing mortality and improving growth regularly, thereby promoting homogenization. (Booth B25 in Hall 8)

Vétoquinol's BoarBetter is a useful compound for pig breeding. This product contains triple boar saliva pheromone, which is a patented combination of synthetic analogues of 3 boar pheromone molecules (androstenone, androstenol and quinoline). Adding this compound to the heat detection process means that the producer can be sure that the sow received all 3 pheromones-and triggered the greatest sexual behavior. It can reduce risks and improve the reproductive performance of the farm, and can be used immediately when in any doubt, increase pheromone exposure after passing the boar and help make better insemination choices. (Booth C62 in Hall 4)

Synthèse Elevage – Dilepix: Gwiz

Gwiz can accurately detect when the sow is in heat and predict the ovulation period of the sow by analyzing the temperature of the vulva and anus measured within a few seconds. The solution combines thermal imaging cameras with artificial intelligence applications to analyze the physiological changes in body temperature during the reproductive cycle. The product allows precise positioning of the ovulation period, thereby optimizing fertility and fertility. Synthèse Elevage's equipment is non-invasive, reducing the use of hormones and optimizing reproductive performance. (Booth B41 in Hall 4)

AkCockpit is a web application for tracking and optimizing injection and cogeneration of methanation plants. It contains data visualization tabs (biogas, process, scrubber, laboratory, data center, boiler) and tabs that will link to operations performed by the user (maintenance or filling rations). Otherwise, if the specified set value is exceeded, some alarms will alert the operator so that corrective actions can be taken as soon as possible. In addition, operators can also remotely connect to the control software installed by them. In addition, all the information needed to control the installation is centralized in one application. (Booth B54 in Hall 4)

DCCNA is a kind of chlorine molecule, which is increasingly used for disinfection of aquaculture water and is famous for its low cost and excellent effect. However, it is well known that it is unstable, the concentration drops rapidly and leads to the emission of chlorine gas. Aquadis' Granulo-Pack overcomes these shortcomings because it prepares a small amount of stock solution several times a day to ensure a constant concentration. The producer does not have to fill the hopper with DCCNA because the system automatically works to the level of 1,750 cubic meters, or it takes about 3 months for a farm that consumes 20 cubic meters per day. (Booth C99 in Hall 4)

Aptimiz is expanding its product range with Aptitrack, the first solution to automatically measure the time of all personnel and machines on the farm. The system automatically detects which machine the farmer is using and which tools are connected (tractors, harvesters, soil working tools, feeding tools, high-pressure cleaners, etc.). It ensures accurate and automatic traceability of activities on the farm from breeding to plot. This allows precise mechanized cost allocation among all the different workshops on the farm. (Booth B42 in Hall 4)

Rainu'Diamant is a technological innovation for grooving concrete floors with diamond discs. The resulting grooves have perfectly shaped edges without damaging the concrete surface. With a depth of 4 to 5 mm, a width of 12 mm, and a spacing of 27 mm, this groove pattern improves the mobility, comfort and safety of animals. Compared with the grooves made of cemented carbide parts, the grooves obtained by sawing have sharp and clean angles, thus ensuring a better grip for the horseshoe. This diamond cutting technique allows grooving of concrete that has been used for less than a year without the risk of chipping or damaging the surface. (Booth C22 in Hall 1)
