Fayetteville Animal Protection Association is working with Tarheel K9-5 Training and Bright Light Brewing Company to host a pet food event next month.

FAPS said in a statement this week that FAPS is collecting canned and dry dog food, cat food and snacks for the No Empty Bowl Project.

"The holidays will bring financial pressure to many people in our community, and no one should choose between feeding pets and feeding family members," FAPS executive director Jackie Stickley said in a statement. "The people we will serve are struggling with various issues, including chronic diseases, unemployment, domestic abuse and disability."

The food delivery event will be held at the Bright Light Brewing Company at 304 Williams Street in downtown Fayetteville from noon to 3 pm on December 12th (Sunday).

Donations can be sent out before meals are delivered to the non-killing shelter at 3927 Bragg Blvd., from Tuesday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm and Sunday and Monday from 8 am to noon. The shelter also has an Amazon food-driven wish list, and any food ordered through the link will be sent directly to FAPS.

"Many cats and dogs were surrendered to shelters because they were unable to feed their pets," Stickley said. "This pet food campaign will help shelters and rescue agencies that are already full and overburdened, and will ease the pressure on those facing financial difficulties in feeding pets."
